Here, creatures that perish during the day, pierced by the sun’s rays, are revived at night when the moon rises. Its rays, akin to arms, bestow the touch of Amrita upon the deceased beings, bringing them back to life. Some sinful Danavas, defeated and confined by Indra, dwell here, their prosperity stripped away by both Indra and the relentless passage of time. Patalam was also the site where the great Lord Mahadeva, the master of all creation, once undertook rigorous ascetic practices for the welfare of all beings.
